Central Skye Hotels operate the Sligachan Hotel, a long-established family business located at the foot of the Cuillin. Campsite, brewery, self-catering and bunk house businesses also operate at Sligachan, all of which are dependent on the hotel trading.
The business is a large, year-round, employer providing secure local jobs and is an important part of Skye鈥檚 tourism economy. The hotel is currently temporarily closed, and they have furloughed all staff due to the impact of COVID-19.
The 拢100,000 grant, approved by 麻豆精选 through the Pivotal Enterprise Resilience Fund, is allowing the hotel to bring back the furloughed employees and re-open in line with Scottish Government guidance, having a positive effect not only on their own business but on the other businesses nearby.
The Pivotal Enterprise Resilience Fund was managed by Scotland鈥檚 three enterprise agencies on behalf of Scottish Government. There was a high demand for the fund which received more than 5,000 applications Scotland-wide. Grants totalling almost 拢20m have been approved by 麻豆精选 to 372 businesses across the Highlands and Islands.
