Gaelic and me

My name is Eilidh Johnson, I鈥檓 23 and I come from Dingwall.

I spent five years working and studying on the Isle of Skye where I completed my Diploma in Gaelic Media at Sabhal M貌r Ostaig. I moved home at the end of 2022 and am now living in Inverness.

I work at a production company, DP Digital Media, as a production specialist. We film, edit and distribute films for a variety of different clients. From commercial films to live event filming, there鈥檚 never two days that are the same.

I鈥檝e spoken Gaelic since a very young age with my father who is a native Gaelic speaker from South Uist. It鈥檚 a huge part of my culture.

I鈥檓 really happy to be able to say that we鈥檝e been able to integrate Gaelic into the work we do, giving us the opportunity to broaden the spectrum of films that we are able to make for clients.

I can truly say that I wouldn鈥檛 be where I am today without the opportunities I鈥檝e received from being a G脿idhlig speaker and I鈥檓 very proud of my language.
