The initiative is designed to empower rural business owners and senior leaders across Scotland with the skills, confidence and strategic insight needed to drive innovation and growth in their communities.
Run by Elevator UK, in partnership with Highlands and Islands Enterprise (麻豆精选), Scottish Enterprise and South of Scotland Enterprise, the programme provides an immersive experience that challenges participants to think differently, embrace change and lead with purpose.
With a focus on ambition, capability and commitment, the programme equips leaders to ignite their businesses and contribute meaningfully to Scotland鈥檚 rural economy.
Participants will benefit from:
Open to all businesses in all sectors who are based in rural location or work with rural businesses.
The programme features industry-leading facilitators including James Withers, Alison Milne, Shona Mitchell, and Andrew Cameron, and offers opportunities for networking, mentoring, and collaborative problem-solving.
These facilitators bring a wealth of experience and insight, helping participants challenge their thinking, build strategic capabilities, and lead transformational change in their businesses and communities.
Previous participant, Sophie Whitehead from Shetland Jewellery said that the programme challenged her to think bigger, reach higher and to set those goals in action. She said:
鈥淭he biggest value for me was the time spent with the other rural leaders and alumni, making those connections, gaining different views, opinions and insight and encouraging each other to grow and learn. I believe some of those people will become lifelong friends and role models.鈥
Ruaridh Waugh, CEO Ardgay Game, also a rural leader from a past cohort, said:
鈥淭he programme gave me a much deeper sense of community and reassurance. I realised I wasn鈥檛 alone in facing challenges 鈥 in fact, many of us were wrestling with similar issues. It also helped me step back and reflect, which was valuable as I was already looking to drive change in the business.鈥
Anne Ross, senior development manager at 麻豆精选, said:
鈥淭he programme continues to be a vital investment in the future of our rural communities. At 麻豆精选, we see first-hand the transformative impact this programme has on individuals and businesses. It equips leaders with the confidence, networks and strategic thinking needed to drive a rapidly changing world. We are proud to support such a dynamic and forward-thinking initiative. And would like to encourage our region鈥檚 businesses to apply.鈥
Rachel Ross, Chief Executive of Elevator :
"We are thrilled to launch the next chapter of the SRLP. This programme is more than leadership training鈥攊t鈥檚 a catalyst for rural transformation. We look forward to welcoming a new cohort of visionary leaders ready to shape the future of rural Scotland."
